Energy Plus farmhouse
The building was built on the outskirts of Soltvadkert, q designed as a farm. During the design of the building, it was important that the back of the building would be at such an angle to the front of the building that the mass of the living-dining-kitchen faced exactly to the south. The embodied energy required for the construction of the building is very low. In addition to the mass stove, the building is heated by electric radiators. Solar panels were installed on the south roof surface.
Adopted strategies
- 1.Sun exposure and internal spatial organization (bioclimatic aspects)
The building, which evokes the simple style typical of the Great Hungarian Plains, has oversized terraces on its south and west sides. The protrusion of the porches was determined based on the expected sun exposure so that the summer sun does not reach the glass, while the winter sun does not shade the upper edge of the glass. - Material selection (certified materials)
The wooden frame structure is filled with 15 cm adobe brick for heat storage on the inside, and insulated with straw bales from the outside with a thickness of 35 cm. - Steps taken to improve energy efficiency, thermal comfort and indoor air quality
The heating of the building was planned to be provided by a wood gasification boiler. During the implementation, however, in addition to the mass stove, additional electric radiators were installed. Solar panels have been installed on the southern roof surface instead of the planned solar collectors in recent years, so the building's electricity production is higher than the building's electricity demand.
